Delia Owens is an American author and zoologist. His date of birth is about 1949. She grew up in Thomasville, in south Georgia. She and her husband Mark Owens were students at the University of Georgia in the 1950s. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from this university. And in the same field of Ph.D in 1974 they both went to Africa. Cry of the Kalahari says he was expelled from the country by Botswana officials for campaigning against the local livestock industry. After completing his Ph.D., he began studying African wildlife and the environment. He wrote many articles on Natural History and International Wildlife with the aim of reaching as many people as possible.
Part 1 ( The Marsh )
The first part of this book is called The Marsh. In which we are told that in 1952 a six-year-old girl named Catherine Danielle Clark was affectionately named Kya. And they live in North Carolina. Due to Kya’s father’s alcoholism and physical abuse, all the family members leave Kya and her father. Kya is eagerly awaiting her mother, sister, and brothers. Then she is left alone with her father. After a while, her dad cuts down on alcohol. Then Catherine Danielle’s dad teaches her to fish. After some time Kya receives a letter in the mailbox that was sent to her mother. Kya leaves the letter on the table to find her father. When his father reads this letter, he gets angry. And Catherine also burns Danielle’s mother’s belongings.
Again, he is addicted to alcohol and gambling, and even after a long time, when his father does not come home, Kya realizes that he may be dead. Now Kya is completely alone because there was a father who lived with her but now he also left.
